Exhaust System
SERVICE FOCUS
Exhaust flange
Unique design maintains a gas-tight seal allowing for movement and vibration control.
Oxygen sensor
Used to measure the concentration of oxygen in the gas within the exhaust system.
Muffler (silencer)
Reduces noise. Maintains proper back pressure which contributes to performance and fuel economy.
Catalytic converter
Facilitates a chemical reaction to alter the makeup of the exhaust gases and reduce harmful emissions.
Clean air is drawn through the intake manifold, mixed with atomized gasoline, then compressed by the piston. The spark plug ignites the mixture, which forces the piston down and creates engine power. The spent gases exit through the exhaust system.
